In the fall of 2000, the AHS received a wonderful donation of over 10,200 images from the Aspen Times. These range through the 1970s and 80s, and will greatly enhance our collection for those time periods. A $15,000 challenge grant to fund the cataloguing of the Aspen Times collection has been received from the Aspen Valley Community Foundation made possible by the generosity of the Aspen Skiing Company and many individual contributors. However, the Aspen Historical Society still needs to raise money to match this amount. If you would like to help us reach our goal, call Tim McElroy at ext. 110.

Thanks to a generous gift from the Fred & Elli Iselin Foundation cataloging has begun on the 600 objects in the Steve Knowlton ski collection.

Ferenc (Franz) Berko has donated 1279 publicity images taken during 1948 and 1949. These photos are currently being evaluated and cataloged. It’s a marvelous collection of images.

Many of these newly acquired images need identification. If you are interested in helping with this project, call 925-3721, ext. 110.

AHS has received a collection of pictures, letters and written materials related to area schools from Rifle to Aspen and the Anderson Family from Burt Anderson, the son of Hildur Anderson, a noted and beloved former Aspenite now living in Arizona. (9/99)
