Keeping in Touch
Postcards help us keep in touch. Their pictures tell us of distant, interesting places. The messages people write on the back make visits to those places come alive!

Directions: Make your own postcard of a special place you have visited or would like to visit and write a message that makes the reader want to visit that place, too. Print out a postcard template here.

1. Select a time period in the past, present or future for your postcard.

2. On the front of the postcard, show a special place you have visited, or would like to visit during the time period you have chosen. Your image of the special place may be drawn, colored, photographed or copied.

3. On the back of the postcard, write a message to a friend giving three reasons why this place is important and what you did there. Remember to sign the postcard.

4. Address the postcard to a friend, using the correct format. Remember, zip codes began in 1963

5. Design a stamp and glue it on your postcard. Be sure to include the cost of your stamp.

* Use this template to help you design your postcard.

Evaluation Criteria: information has historical value. Information and picture are related and accurate. Postcards are neat and attractive. Directions and correct format are followed.
