Picture Yourself

Look closely at the photographs and answer these questions:

Directions: Find two photographs of ourself (one showing you at least five years younger than today and one showing you in the last year). Place the photographs in frames that you design yourself, or use the two picture frames provided here.

Photographs can help us see and understand different kinds of change. We can use photos to see changes in our families, in our houses, in our schools, in our friends, and in ourselves. What are some ways that you have changed?

1. What are three big differences in you that you see in these two photographs?

2. Describe differences in the backgrounds of these photos.

3. What are three things that remain the same about you in these photographs?

4. Describe similarities in the background of these photos.

5. What do these two photographs tell about changes in you and your life?

Extension Activity: The time is ten years in the future. Design a picture frame that reflects your interests and draw yourself in it. Be sure to include a background that tells something about where you will be and what you will be doing. What steps will you take to achieve this future?
