The Aspen Historical Society was founded and established in 1963 as a 501(3)(c) charitable organization by trustees including western novelist Luke Short and Bauhaus artist Herbert Bayer.

It is dedicated to serving the general public through exciting history education inspired by the real objects, authentic voices, and actual sites of our community's heritage.

Between 2001 and Jan. of 2004 The Aspen Historical Society was known as HeritageAspen.

We rely on our many generous supporters to provide our programming to adults and children, visitors and locals.
