Write a poem about skiing by using your six senses. This is easy to do if you can write for yourself. If not, ask an adult or older kid to help.
|
1. Choose a winter activity for the title of your poem. It can be anything from skiing, playing in the snow, making snow angels, sledding, making a snow man, going for a walk, snowshoeing, or even sitting inside watching it snow.
2. Start by writing, "I see." In five minutes, write down everything you see when you are outside playing in the snow, sledding, making a snow man, going for a walk, snowshoeing, or skiing. Make the list as long as you can. 3. Write, "I feel." Describe how you feel when you are outside doing the activity you chose. What does it feel like to touch snow, or fall while skiing, or slide down the hill at top speeds on your sled, or come inside after being out in the cold. 4. Write, "I hear." This time, list the sounds you hear while doing your activity. Describe them in detail. 5. Write, "I taste." Describe what some things that are associated with skiing and winter taste like. Try snow, cold air, hot chocolate, soup, cookies, etc. 6. Write, "I remember." Fill in what you remember about the activity you chose. 7. Finish by writing, "I dream." Add all the ideas that come to mind after thinking about skiing and winter activities for a while. 8. Now read your ideas as though they are a poem with what you were thinking of as your title. |
