Dating back to 1891, this building operated as a wholesale house. In the early 1900s, it became the Aspen Commission Company where popular items such as famous Owl cigars were sold. You will find one of the oldest advertisements of its kind in Aspen still promoting that product on the western exterior wall of the building. The owner of the business became known as one of the largest shippers of fruits and vegetables on the western slope of Colorado. In 1960, the Crystal Palace became a restaurant and venue for musical review.
