Charles W. Durand built this inconspicuous building in 1885. It remained a hardware store until the turn of the century. Jewett’s grocery store did business here until Aspen’s post World War I decline. The Eagles bought it in 1954 and used it as a meeting place until 1978. It was home to Andre’s Disco in 1991, known for its dance floor and mechanical roof, which opened to the sky. Planet Hollywood leased the building from 1994 to early in 2000. It may be the oldest standing masonry building in Aspen, and although the exterior has been renovated, it maintains its unobtrusive, sedate appearance.
