The Sardy House

J.W. (Three-Fingered Jack) Atkinson built this home during the 1890s. Aspen’s only Depression era doctor, Dr. Twining and his wife lived in the house in 1935. Tom Sardy purchased the house in 1945 and moved in his mortuary business. Tom was well-known for his community involvement and for facilitating the building of Aspen’s airport, Sardy Field. In 1986, the house was renovated and opened as a bed and breakfast hotel. The design of this building includes many classic Victorian elements—turrets, finials, iron trim and railings, changing roof lines, bay windows, porches, gables, and towers of varying sizes and shapes, wood tracing and fish scale gingerbread.
